Our science team has successfully represented our school at 5th CONSEF at CSU Cole Center. Salih, Sharda, Briana, Sena, Daniel, Curtis, Willie, Kerem and Rabia were in the team. Mrs. Lawman and Mr. Tayfur Yildiz were their coaches. In addition, Mr. Lawman, Mr. and (future) Mrs. Deitsch, Mr. Aksu, Mr Sum, Mr. Capa and Henry brothers' father and grandmother came to CONSEF to support our team members. |
| We were also honored by the visit of one of our board members and some other teachers and directors of our sister schools. Mr. Sum, Mr. Albulut, Mr. Mutlu, Mr. Osman. Ms. Sevgi were among them. Mr. Ron Adler, the president of Ohio Alliance for Quality Education, also came from Dayton to visit our science team.
As I have said it a few times before, the biggest award is to participate such a big event and to learn from many others. I am sure it will be a life-time learning experience for them, too. Not all the middle school students have a chance of talking to three professors at this age.
I am proud of our students and team members when I saw such a great success that came in a short time. I am sure this honor and success belong to everyone in the team. Yet, our special thanks go to our science teachers and those teachers/parents who spent their Saturday with us.
We should recognize their success to the maximum degree in front of the others so that many more students will be volunteer next time for similar activities. If recognizing and honoring success becomes a school culture, students will not look for other ways of "looking cool." As one of the African American speakers said today, they can be cool and successful; cool and disciplined, cool and well-behaved at the same time. Yet, we have to show them that this is possible.
Best,
Mr. Kose
