Young Scientists at Niagara Falls
Our Noble Academy Science Team enjoyed a great day at Niagara Falls in August. This trip was to reward them for their great success in the 2008 Concept Schools Science and Engineering Fair, also known as CONSEF 2008. Our young scientists received 5 medals. We had a 1st place medal, three 2nd place medals, and a 3rd place medal. Our successful team included Kerem Kose, Willie Henry, Curtis Henry, Danielle Shelton, Briana Spain, Sharda Hammett, Rabia Gunonu, Sena Kose, and Salih Saritoprak. Even though some of these members are no longer at Noble Academy Cleveland, they were still able to attend our trip to Niagara Falls. At the end of the day, the smiles on their faces was not only because they had an exciting day, but it was also because they were aware that their success was recognized.

ZOO TRIP
Grades 1-3 enjoyed an outdoor adventure at the Cleveland Metropark Zoo. The weather did not stop the students, teachers, and 19 parent volunteers from exploring and educating themselves about the animals and their habitats. The giraffes, monkey, and elephant exhibits proved to be everyone’s favorite. The Rainforest at the Zoo provided students the ability to observe tropical fish, frogs, birds, and snakes. Lunch was a picnic at the pavilion. The Zoo field trip was not only fun for the students but also offered a valuable educational experience for the students.

African Safari Wildlife Park and Seneca Caverns Field Trip
12 students from grades 5-6 accompanied by Mr. Aksu, Mr. Sum, and Mr. Tayfur explored the Seneca Caverns and the African Safari Wildlife Park. Seneca Cavern, one of Ohio’s largest caverns is also know in America as a geological wonder. The students and staff took a guided tour that walked them 110 feet underground. At the lowest point, the students viewed the crystal clear stream of water, “Ole’ Mist’ry River”. This stream is part of a vast groundwater system in our region. Learning geology hands on allowed the students to have fun and be educated at the same time. NAC strives to have every field trip educational based.
African Safari Wildlife Park is a safari where you drive thru and experience the park. The preservation is over 100 acres and is home to hundreds of rare, exotic, and endangered animals from the world. It is recognized as a leader in the conservation field. Students learned about biological and environmental elements that contribute to the animals and their habitat. The field trip allowed students to learn and observe animals and their behavior while having fun.

Chalk Festival
The Cleveland Museum of Art held its annual chalk festival on Saturday, September 20, 2008. Ms. Marshall; several students, and their families attended the event. The weather was fantastic and allowed the participants an excellent environment to work on their chalk art. In addition to being able to create chalk art on the sidewalk, students were able to watch professional artists at work as they drew their masterpieces. Hundreds of visitors from all over Cleveland turned out for the event, making it a fun and enriching day!
